aboutus
Exeter Media Watch is Exeter University’s first student-run fact-checking service.
We consider it essential to confront the uncomfortable truths to facilitate educated, fact-based debate, that challenges echo chambers throughout student communities.
Members will have the opportunity to participate in interesting research projects, gaining research, data analysis, writing and journalistic skills. Such CV-worthy experience could be invaluable for students pursuing various careers in journalism, politics, and academia.
Our social media pages facilitate discussions on misinformation, engaging students of all backgrounds, ideologies, and beliefs. We publish accurate and objective articles to highlight poignant issues within the media and collaborate with other societies to shed light on their causes. We aim to make a real difference with collaborative research projects contributing to our fortnightly newsletter, ad hoc articles and planned podcast series.
This FREE society is for anyone who wants to make a difference and gain unique CV experience. Members will be able to participate in as many or as few events as they choose. Upon joining the society, students will be added to the Facebook group and email list, with access to society resources including: fact-checking guides, the fortnightly newsletter, upcoming projects to partake in, weekly socials, sponsor promotions, up-coming workshops and the weekly podcast.
